Twice As Nice

The pieces so good I buy them in multiples.

Confession: I am somewhat of a lazy shopper? Because when I find something I absolutely love, I am inclined to double down on it. Why continue the hunt for a great pair of jeans or excellent ballerina flats when you’ve already found them? Just buy another pair in a different color & get on with your life!

This is a profound efficiency, to be sure (because who has the time?), but the practice of purchasing multiples also helps you cultivate a uniform & define your personal style. A wardrobe of consistent pieces speaks of confidence, and who doesn’t want to project that?

These are the pieces I love so much I’ve bought them twice (or more!):

Margaux Wrap Sandals

I can’t get dressed during the spring & summer without a wrap-style, gladiator-inspired pair of sandals. I’ve bought these Margaux Wrap Sandals in brown, then pink & then gold, because they are chic, comfortable & soooooo fairly-priced.

Stripes!

My personality is “striped shirts” so it should come as no surprise that I have multiple shirts from multiple brands that I like for different reasons. I love the Kule “Boyfriend” for long sleeves & “Modern” for short sleeves, the Ann Mashburn Long-Sleeved Tee for its true boatneck & Short-Sleeved Relaxed Tee for its incredibly luxe fabric, and pretty much every bateau mariniere Saint James makes.

Everlane Relaxed Oxford Shirt

My sentimental attachment to oxford shirts dates way back to middle school (as I spoke about during my recent podcast interview with Noelle Hagan). There is just something about the structured crispness of an oxford cloth button-down that speaks to my soul. The Everlane Relaxed Oxford Shirt is my very favorite, and the price is so good you definitely need them in white & blue like I did.

Molly Moorkamp Shift Dress

A classic shift dress can take you everywhere, darling, yet surprisingly few brands still make them. Molly Moorkamp’s are the current gold standard for cut, quality, patterns & price. I wear my Molly Moorkamp Shift Dresses on repeat all spring & summer long, and they always manage to find their way into my suitcase for travel.

Jenni Kayne Cashmere Cocoon Cardigan

There is truly not an outfit I have not worn my Jenni Kayne Cocoon Cardi with. On my shoulders with a dress? Check. Over workout clothes on my way to the gym? Check. With a nightgown as I flip Sunday morning pancakes? Check. On top of a striped tee & cutoffs on a chilly summer evening? Check check. The price-per-wear on this sweater is stunning, which is why I own it in both grey and ivory.

Mansur Gavriel Dream Ballerinas

The perfect ballerina flat is such a personal choice, but for me, it all tracks back to nostalgia for a childhood spent in ballet slippers. I crave that feeling of a light, pliable leather slipper with a prim bow that feels like wearing nothing at all. Add a monogram, and MY WORD, you have the perfect shoe. These Mansur Gavriel Dream Ballerinas are a dream come true indeed!

Lululemon Pace Rival Skirt

A doyenne of atheisure, I am not, but when circumstances call for a sporty skirt, the Lululemon Pace Rival Skirt is my move. It is lightweight, slim cut so as to not be too tennis-y, has built-in shorts for ease & a zipper pocket for stashing car keys. I have them in white for when I want to look cute & black for when I have dirty work to attend to in the garden.

Mother Denim Hustler Ankle Fray

Denim trends may come & go, but the Mother Denim “Hustler” feels timeless. The cut & length are just dreamy, and they basically feel like wearing yoga pants except that you ARE NOT WEARING YOGA PANTS. I wear my white ones to bits all summer long & then transition to black (a wonderfully saturated, not at all heavy metal band-looking black) come winter.

perfectwhitetee Harley T-Shirt

The cut of a t-shirt is so important, the difference between looking schlubby and cool. I am v. partial to the perfectwhitetee “Harley” which has a slightly relaxed fit, perfectly cropped length & is made from the loveliest soft cotton. I put my white & heather grey Harley’s in every suitcase I pack!
