When it comes to major life events, the Hus-b and I have been running at a full sprint from the moment we met. In three and a half years, we’ve fallen in love, gotten married, purchased and remodeled a home, and welcomed our first child. Fortunate? Absolutely. Exhausted? Oh. My. God.
So as we look forward to the year ahead, doing nothing sounds just about perfect. There’s not much time for the delightfully mundane nothings of everyday life like cleaning your makeup brushes or alphabetizing your library when you’re racing from milestone to milestone. At last in a serene place after so much change, we find ourselves yearning for discrete, unremarkable projects like…
reorganizing our desk *just so*,
stocking our pantry with row upon shining row of home canned jams and vegetables,
reading books that have nothing to do with wedding cakes or pregnancy (On our bedside table presently is “Death Comes To Pemberley”, a gift from our mother-in-law who knows us oh-so-well),
learning that, when it comes to entertaining, casual *can* be chic,
and finally displaying those seemingly ages-ago wedding photos.
This year, we resolve to live with beauty, simplicity and purpose. (Whether that can be accomplished with an increasingly-mobile child living under our roof remains to be seen.) It seems quite fitting that with this, our one hundredth post, we set forth our intentions for the year ahead. We thank you for your loyal readership and look forward to continuing to share our projects, our adventures and our life with you!
