And what are we thankful for this year? You’re looking at it. These two gorgeous creatures make our every day brighter, sillier (and occasionally infuriating).
When we dreamt of our future, many of the details were unclear except for our wish to be a wife and a mother. So, it’s a little surreal to look at our life now and see a dream realized in toto. The reality of it all is both everything and nothing like we imagined. We always hoped to marry a kind and loving man (check and check), but we find ourselves most grateful for the things we didn’t think to wish for: the hus-b’s unyielding patience (on the ski hill *and* in the labor room), his killer knife skills in the kitchen, and his contagious sense of calm. (Dream husband would have done all of this in a popped collar and driving mocs, of course, but this is a small quibble.)
Our dream baby was to be reasonably adorable, a great sleeper and sub-8 pounds at birth (the Little Lady is currently three-for-three), but our favorite thing about her is none of these. She has the most genuine little smile we’ve ever seen, full of wisdom and kindness that we never expected to see in a gummy baby smile. She smiles with her eyes like she means it and it’s simply dazzling.
There’s no bones about it: we’re a lucky girl, and while we try to be grateful every day, there is something lovely about a dedicated occasion for thankfulness. P&V wishes you a wonderful day full of family, food and thanks. (Okay, and maybe some Martha, too.)
