…home, that is. No, we’re not yanking your chain: the remodel is finally, actually and (minus a few punch list items) done, and we are San Franciscans once more. It is thrilling to be back in our cozy old house, although considering the improvements we’ve made, it kind of feels like a new house all over again. While we are still up to our ears in unpacking, here’s a peek at some of our (almost) completed project…
The nursery literally glows pink! We are adoring the Benjamin Moore “Pink Cherub” ceiling and “Classic Grey” walls, lit from above by a 6-light polished nickel chandelier by Visual Comfort. All that we need now are for the furniture — and the baby! — to arrive. A little more than a month to go on the baby. Wish we could say the same about the furniture. Grumble grumble, Restoration Hardware Baby & Child back order, grumble…
We can’t say enough how pleased we are with the transformation of this hallway. What was once poorly-lit and unwelcoming is now open and bright, thanks to a reconfigured lighting scheme, some gorgeous double French library scones from Circa Lighting, new wainscoting and crown moulding from SF Victoriana, and several coats of Benjamin Moore “Hint of Mint” paint. And check out our shiny refinished floors — we always knew those original boards had it in them!
The entrance to the master suite beckons in a whole new way with reconfigured overhead lighting, warm gray paint in Benjamin Moore “Light Pewter” and dramatic crown moulding (also from SF Victoriana). My favorite bookshelf also got an update with a coat of Benjamin Moore “White Dove”, the same soft white paint used on the wood trim throughout the rest of the house.
The master bathroom is so, so close to being complete! We are madly in love with our carrara marble basketweave floor, which is both gorgeous and practical (read: non-slip for wet feet, especially tiny ones fresh from the bath). The custom countertop turned out beautifully, and the hus-b and I are adjusting quite nicely to no longer sharing a sink. Upgrade! The medicine cabinets *just* went in post-photo shoot, the shower was sealed today and our train rack from Restoration Hardware is on its way, so we’ll have more progress to show you soon!
Our new clawfoot tub from Sunrise Specialty is *begging* to be broken in. I am already envisioning my very own wine-fueled Calgon moment after a long day of chasing the little lady…
I am borderline obsessed with the semi-flush mount light fixture in our bathroom, which we purchased from our *favorite* lighting resource in San Francisco, Yury’s Lights and Beyond. Yury rewires and refurbishes antique light fixtures and then sells them at unbelievably fair prices, perfect for homeowners like us who love period lighting (and a great deal). The pattern cast on the ceiling by the crystals is kind of bananas, no?
And here’s our newest crush in the house: the freshly-wallpapered foyer. Doesn’t it just make you want to smile? While the “Hicks’s Hexagon” is a bold, graphic choice that isn’t for everyone – heck, I still can’t believe I like it this much — it really can be a fun statement if used in small doses like our petite foyer. The polished nickel bell jar light fixture (also from Circa Lighting) completes the look perfectly, no? As if coming home could get any more cheerful!
I stumbled across your amazing home. Can you please tell me where to get that awesome wallpaper. Thanks! mnothvogel@hotmail.com
I stumbled upon your blog yesterday! It’s gorgeous!
Congratulations on your new bundle of pink! I have 2 of them myself and they are so much fun! Enjoy every single second of it!
Your house is prettier than pretty! LOOOOOVE the Hicks Hexagon paper in the entry! We used it in our new powder room and I get tons of compliments.
Welcome, Amy! We’re delighted you found us. Thank you for all of the compliments and kind words. We’re simply blushing!
Wow, I would love to have a place in SF like that. Really nice looking, great pictures, the remodel looks fantastic!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We are extremely fortunate and grateful 😉
I am not sure whether to be more jealous of the Hicks wallpaper or the master bath!?
Ha, the Hicks wallpaper was our designer’s idea — I only wish I had her vision! Keep an eye out for updates on the master bath — it is *so* close to being done.
It all looks amazing! I love every single detail. I love that you included the paint colors and other details in the post. I know that you must be so excited to be back home!
Thank you so much for your kind words. Indeed, it is lovely to be home, and it is also thrilling to see our house fulfilling the potential we saw when we purchased it a year ago!
The foyer looks amazing I love the wallpaper!!
Thanks, sister! I had a feeling you’d adore the wallpaper 😉
